Edouard Pernod

A large original oil of Edouard Pernod, eponymous owner of the famous distillery, was for me one of the highlights of the Absinthiades. It was on loan froma  well known collector, and has never before been shown in public. What a great face!

Pontarlier Absinthiades 2006

Pictures from the 2006 Pontarlier Absinthiades…all the usual suspects were there, and also the usual faked, restored absinthiana - repaired pyrogenes, refilled and re-labelled bottles, artificially aged spoons. A few of the dealers though had some interesting items, like these unusual Absinthe Bourgeois items…

and these gorgeous publicity cartons for Absinthe Vichet. These originate from the original distillery premises, and I was very fortunate to be able to buy a substantial archive of other material from the distillery from the same source, including the original schematics of the distillery’s Egrot alambics (these will be up at the Virtual Museum very soon).
