You had to be there…

Email received from the Marchioness of Normanby. Seriously.

Just a note to say how wonderfully well the evening at ther
National gallery went and to send you my congratulations for a wonderful
show and a brilliant drink.  Everyone was absolutely enchanted by the
absinthe bar - the very heart of the belle epoque.  The showmanship of the
thing was immaculate, the organisation was impeccable and the objects were
even more dazzling than I had anticipated.  Many thanks from all of us, ever
Nicola

Gala fundraiser for the National Gallery with a Belle Epoque theme. White tie. Tickets £1000/person. Peter and I set up and ran the absinthe bar on the portico, overlooking Trafalgar Square, with fountains, cordon glasses, some original antiques and posters, and lots of Jade. The absinthe was served traditionally with iced-water, no cocktails. Gillian Anderson, Helena Bonham-Carter, Tim Burton, Christianne Amanpour and lots of incredibly wealthy British aristocracy were there.

We finished at 3.30am. One day, over an absinthe, I’ll tell you what really happened.

Amazing story and I loved the photos in the link. I hope to hear what really happened one day.
